Christmas in July ATT

UPDATE - Yesterday was the end of this contest - the tag with the most votes would be declared the winner. Drum Roll please ----- Yes I WON!!!! I am so excited to have won my first contest with ATT. The winner receives an autographed tote bag from Tim Holtz, Yeah!! and a bunch of "Tim Stuff". Oh, I can't wait!!!

For the Yahoo Group "All Things Tim" I made this tag for a contest they are having this month. You had to find one of the Christmas Tags that Tim demoed in 2007 and 2008 and create an "everyday" version of that tag using the techniques that Tim did, but with your own theme. My choice was Day 1, 2008. I love working with the masks and the Distressed Inks.

For my tag I used the Timeworks mask and Distressed Inks in Worn Lipstick and Broken China in the background. I distressed the edges of the tag and applied Walnut Distressed Ink. The butterfly and word "time" are Grungeboard, for the word I applied Worn Lipstick ink and Distressed Stickles. For the butterfly I embossed it with a paisley design with my Cuttlebug and then applied Straw ink all over and Walnut around the edges. On the wings I added Distressed Stickles in Worn Lipstick and Broken China. I added a gear and a spinner to the masked area to represent "Time".

Birthday Cards

Last week I made some Birthday cards for my Sister-In-Law and Niece. It was a major mile marker in my Sister-in-Laws life and my husband put out and idea for the card (she turned 60, but don't tell anyone) and said make something - here's my translation of his idea of a wheel with different times in our lives. I printed all the times of our lives on the card and then added Distressed Inks, I created the wheel using a gear and spinner from Tim Holtz and the words are spelled out in Grungeboard covered with Distressed Stickles in Straw. By the way - Kathy really loved the card and everyone got a big laugh!!

This card was also for Kathy from her Mother-In-Law. The center piece was embossed with my Cuttlebug and sanded to bring out the pink that went with the background paper. I embossed the
greeting with pink embossing powder and added pink and brown pearls around the background.

This Birthday card was for my husbands niece, Heather. The background was embossed with the Cuttlebug as was the the Happy Birthday and the presents. They were also sanded to make them stand out. I added a pink ribbon along the side of the background. I also added a bit of glitter to the presents.

One Powerful Hour Challenge Summer

This week the challenge a One Powerful Hour is "Summer". What comes to mind when you think of summer?? When I was a kid we always took a weeks vacation at my Grandpa's in this tiny little town in Wisconsin - Adams/Friendship and they had this great beach that I got to go to almost every day. Here's my 4x4 of a Summer Swim.

The background paper is a blue/green and to the edges I added Distressed Ink in Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo. The swimming image is from Altered Pages. I added the sparkly sun, some shells and Faded Jeans Distressed Stickles around the image. The words were made with my Dymo Labeler.

Thanks for the fun challenge this week Caroline.

RAK For a Friend

I just finished this really cute ATC so I thought I would let everyone have a look. I have been wanting to use one of these Beach Collage images from Altered Pages and I finally found the perfect combination, I think.

The ATC base was stamped with a Background Text stamp and then I added some Distressed inks in Shabby Shutters and Worn Lipstick. I placed the image on a green patterned paper and use Eucalyptus Glitter Glue around the edge of the image. I added the words and a few blue half pearls.

COF July Swap

For the month of July Andrea is hosting a swap where she sent each of us different products and we were to make ATC's for the group. I finished mine on Friday and wanted to share them. I received Blue cardstock, a blue/green pattern paper, some square buttons and a roll of colored tape for my Dymo Labeler. Here is what I came up with.

I added beads, Grungepaper, a stripe of paper that I embossed and sanded, and Twinkling H2O paint.
First I used H2O's in Iridescent Green on the blue cardstock, then I cut a stripe of the pattern paper with a zig zag edge. For the flower I used a flower die from Quickuts and cut them out of the Grungepaper. I painted them with Mountain Rose Paint Dabbers and a pink H2O to add the needed sparkle and shine. For the embossed edge I worked with Sandable cardstock from Core'dinations with a whitewash finish and a pink underneath. Once embossed I sanded it to bring out the color from under the white. I added the Friends title and there you have it.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my latest work.
