Lovely Lady Note Card Kit

This is the third card in a set and they will be put together by Altered Pages and sold as a kit.  I believe it will be available later next week.  Please feel free to check it out.

For this card I chose a green and blue stripe and matching buttons.  The image is from Altered Pages ( Brown Collage #1714) and I have matted it on a brown piece of cardstock which I
embossed and then sanded to bring out the green back color.  This is a new sandable paper that I found at QVC and I just love it.  I just placed my second order so that I don't run out - LOL!!!
I added a ivory lace to the top and bottom of the card and the buttons along the left side.

Thanks for stopping by for a look.

May COF Swap

This month the challenge was to use newspaper in your project.  You could make anything you wanted as long as there is newspaper somewhere in it.  I chose to make another tag - right now they just seem to be what I enjoy making.  Here is my tag with a newspaper flower.  For the flower itself I painted a strip of newspaper that was cut about 1 1/2 inches wide and I cut it with a pinking blade for added texture, with Twinkling H2O's in a purple (I also did some in yellow and pink),  I then pleated the paper into a circle and taped the back to hold it together.  Then I took a large pop-up dot and covered it with colorful thread for the center.  The stem and leaves are cut out of Grungeboard and painted with Twinkling H2O paint.  For the background of the tag I first sprayed it with Glimmer Mist in Sea Glass, then I used a mask from Tim Holtz and Distressed Ink in Worn Lipstick.  I also used a bit of China Blue over the whole tag.  I then added a little ribbon and a pink pearl.

COF Journal

I just sent off my latest journal - the theme on this one was to make a tag using "Momisims".  All those wonderful bits of knowledge Mom knows and tries to give us, and when we're young we think it's all a bunch of mumble jumble.  We later learn that Mom was pretty smart after all!!

For my tag I used "When one door closes, another door opens".  Life is so full of going out one door and  going into another.  Our lives are always changing and we shouldn't be afraid of that change.

For the background of my tag I used a color wash of Twinkling H2O's in Mandarin Blush then I used a Mask from Tim Holtz in the shape of a crown and I used Distressed Ink in Shabby Shutters.  I found the pictures of doors on line and I attached them only on one side so they can be opened - there's a surprise under each one.  I used little beads for the door knobs. For all my words I used this new paper I have that is brown with colors underneath and it's made for sanding.  Once you emboss it you can sand it and the other colors comes through.  I used one strip that was brown and orange and another that was brown and green and I ran them through my trusty Dymo labeler.  I then added a couple of word bubbles.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Another Mother's Day Card

I am dear friends with my Sister-In-Laws mother-in-law and I put together yesterday this card for her.  We all got together last night for a lovely family gathering.  Jewell is always so grateful for the cards I make her and I love doing them for her.

The image is from Altered Pages and I matted it on a piece of handmade paper that I tore on all sides. On the edges of the image I used Dusty Concord Distressed Ink and I use some Twinkling H2O's for just a touch of color on the image.  The base of the card is a purple paper to which I added a poke a dot ribbon and a few buttons.  To the center of the buttons I used Distressed Stickles in Peeled Paint, Antique Linen and Faded Jeans.

Mother's Day Card

I just finished this card for my Mother-In-Law so I wanted to get it posted for all to enjoy.  The image is from Altered Pages collage sheet Edwardian # 838.  I used a bit of Twinkling H2O's in yellow, green and pink to give just a hint of color and sparkle. I used a cream and pink background paper to which I added Distressed Ink in Tea Dye for a more vintage look. I matted the image on a green cardstock and added beads to the corners.  A little white and silver ribbon is on the top and bottom.  I added a bit of  the Tea Dyed ink to the ribbon also.

Thanks and have a wonderful Mother's Day

Guest Designer for "One Powerful Hour"

This week I have the privilege of guesting on a great friends challenge site "One Powerful Hour".  Caroline is in the mist of a huge move across country so I thought this would be fun to do and a way I could be a little help to her.

I have chosen the theme of "In Flight" and I have created this tag.  All the stamps are from Tim Holtz as is the Distressed Inks and the mask I used in the background.  I used some of my new Twinkling H2O's so the background is very sparkly - you can never have to much sparkle!!

To start the tag I made two color washes using Twinkling H2O's, in Dutch Iris and Heavenly Bamboo - I painted the top half of the tag with the blue and the bottom with the Bamboo. When I applied it I used a very light tough and made it kind of streaky. Once that was dry I used Distressed Ink in Weathered Wood lightly over
the blue and Tea Dyed over the Bamboo. I ruffed up the edges and used Vintage Photo all the way around. When all this was really dry, I used a flourish mask and Worn Lipstick all over so there is a light pink touch to the whole tag. I stamped the bird twice - once with embossing ink and using black embossing powder on the tag, and then on a second tag, or heavy paper using Staz-On in Olive. I added a bit of H2O's in Mango Mamba to this stamping and then cut it out, used foam tape and placed it over the embossed bird, I also curled the wings a bit to give a look of flight. I stamped the saying with the olive ink and I used Timber for the branches. I added a few buttons and I embossed "In Flight" in the upper left corner in Egyptian gold so that's real sparkly also. I know it's really hard to see in the picture. I added a few ribbons and there you have it.
